Jordan Klepper highlights the far-right leader who shares Trump’s “butthurt mentality”

American conservatives have a new infatuation with a country other than the United States, then Giordano Klepper I visited Hungary to understand why.

The daily showThe comedian noted at the CPAC convention in Florida earlier this year that many of the former president Donald TrumpSupporters of ‘s have also become huge fans of the Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orbana far-right leader adored by Trump as he spearheaded Hungary’s democratic decline.

Speaking to Orbán’s hardliners in the Hungarian capital, Klepper said he felt “right at home” listening to the “greatest hits” he has come to know so well from Trump’s rallies.

“The first thing that shocked us when we landed in Budapest, we went to a demonstration essentially on Independence Day,” Klepper told HuffPost in an interview. “And I was amazed at how quickly I heard about Hunter Biden’s laptop [Joe] Biden is responsible for the invasion of Ukraine and George Soros is a villain. ”

Klepper noted that Orbán, who has held power for four consecutive terms, has achieved a return that Trump seems to want so badly. The Hungarian leader served a total of five terms: his first, from 1998 to 2002, ended in defeat and shouts foul on electoral fraud, initiating the country’s descent towards autocracy.

“I think the far right in America is enthusiastic about Hungary for the effectiveness of the Orbán regime,” explained Klepper.

“He was expelled from office years and years ago, and he was so embarrassed that he vowed to return to office and make it impossible for him to step down again.”

“Which seems to be in line with a certain guy who lives in Mar-a-Lago,” he continued. “I think those whims and that kind of butthurt mentality feel perfectly aligned there.”

The new 30-minute special, “Jordan Klepper Fingers the Globe: Hungary for Democracy”, will premiere on Thursday.
