BREAK! Chiefs loses Mbule as he joins city rivals the Sundowns

SuperSport United had to see another of their top talent join crosstown rivals Mamelodi Sundowns as Sipho Mbule became the last to jump ship and join the DStv Premiership champions.

Mbule follows in the footsteps of Aubrey Modiba, Reyaad Pieterse, Grant Kekana and Teboho Mokoena who have moved across the fence in recent years.

The 24-year-old had been out of action for about two months after being suspended from all team activities for what was later described as “disrespect to his teammates and the technical team” led by Kaitano Tembo at the time. This publication reported at the time that Mbule was plotting his way to Masandawana.

Matsatsantsa A managing director of Pitori, Stan Matthews made a sad figure in his statement as he dislikes players forcing their way out of the club and holds Mbule in high regard.

“We are sorry to lose a gifted player like Sipho, especially at his age where the best is yet to come. We have tried all ways to change things with Sipho, but in recent months it has become clear that his heart and his mind weren’t in our club and that it was better for us to part ways.

“We wish Sipho every success in football and in life and hope to see the best of him in the future as he truly has a special talent that can enlighten PSL and Bafana Bafana,” Matthews said in a statement released by United.
