This week’s best high school football games in Southland

A look at some of the best high school football games in Southland during the last week of the regular season.

Westlake Village Oaks Christian (7-2) to Ventura St. Bonaventure (6-15), Thursday at 7pm

The Marmonte League championship will be decided. Oaks Christian has improved immensely since losing to the Seraphs 34-13 last season. Dylan Hampsten has four sacks in four defensive games. Oaks Christian’s Johnny Thompson rushed for 798 yards behind a stellar offensive line. St. Bonaventure relies on running back Delon Thompson, who ran for 2,001 yards and scored 22 touchdowns. The Choice: Oaks Christian.

San Pedro (9-0) to Wilmington Banning (5-4), Friday at 7pm

With the Marine League title up for grabs, the undefeated San Pedro has the chance to finish the No. 1 seed for the City Section Open Division playoffs. The Pirates rely on their defense, led by tackle Jerry Witty and late Nick Fernandez. The ban hopes its improvement in recent weeks will be enough to bring the disturbance to an end. Caleb Nuhi-Yandall ran nearly 1,000 yards. The choice: San Pedro.

Venice (7-2) to the Palisades (7-2), Friday 19.00

This game will decide the Western League title. Venezia have the offensive balance needed to win, but Palisades has enough big game weapons to cause problems. Palisades running back Christopher Washington rushed for 863 yards. The choice: Venice.
