A former UN employee who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting nine women was sentenced in New York City to 15 years in prison this week as his victims came to court and convicted him of the crimes.
Karim Elkorany, 39, received the maximum sentence of 15 years in prison from United States District Judge Naomi Buchwald shortly after nine of the thirteen rape victims of the former UN employee spoke about the crimes in court. The New York Post reports.
“Her crime has destroyed my life and I have spent the last six years trying to reconstruct it, piece by piece,” the first woman, identified as “victim 1”, told the court.
“There is no part of me that has remained intact,” added victim 1, occasionally wiping the tears from his eyes. “The trauma I experienced following the assault has spread like cancer to every corner of my life and I am still discovering areas it has infected.”

Elkorany, a former communications specialist and a UNICEF worker at the United Nations, admitted that he drugged 20 victims and sexually assaulted thirteen of them between 2005 and 2016 in Iraq, Egypt and the United States. according to statements from the Southern District of New York.

Elkorany, of West Orange, New Jersey, was also sentenced to three years of probation and sentenced to pay a restitution to be determined at a later date.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, UN spokesman Stéphane Dujarric said the organization “welcomes the efforts of US authorities to ensure that Karim ElKorany is held accountable for his criminal conduct.”
