Elijah Moore talks about Jets trading after another unproductive game: “I don’t understand the ball”

New York Jets receiver Elijah Moore played Sunday against the New England Patriots despite requesting a trade earlier in the week for lack of use.

That usage remained the same in the team’s 22-17 defeat.

Moore, the team’s second round pick a season ago, was only targeted once, unsecured, after scoring no goals in the team’s win over the Green Bay Packers last week.

In the locker room, he talked to reporters about his chemistry with quarterback Zach Wilson, and was blunt.

“I don’t even know, I couldn’t even tell you. I don’t understand the ball. I don’t know,” he said.

The Jets have two days to fulfill Moore’s wish as the NFL exchange deadline is November 1st. However, the Jets have reportedly made it clear that they do not wish to trade the 34th overall pick that is just starting in the league.

“At the end of the day, this is like an inheritance,” he said when asked why he had asked for an exchange. “I love football a lot and I know a lot of people love it. As I said, there are a lot of things behind the scenes that I would rather keep inside and that happen to my reaction for it. It is what it is.”

Moore proved he could be a matchup nightmare after scoring 538 yards out of 43 receptions with five touchdowns in his rookie season.

As long as he remains a Jet, Moore will continue to do what he has to do to help the team … even if he can’t catch the ball.

“I’m here. And while I’m here, I want to do the best I can and help my teammates. I love all my brothers, so we didn’t win today, but we’re trying to focus on the next game,” he said.
