The Houston Astros are once again World Series champions.
The Astros took home Game 6 with a score of 4-1 by beating the Philadelphia Phillies in six games.
It is their second World Series title in the franchise’s history.
Houston have won their last three games in the series after falling two games to one: they became the first team to win the World Series at their home baseball field by the Boston Red Sox in 2013.

Game 6 was the pitcher duel it should have been as Framber Valdez and Zack Wheeler traded zero for five consecutive innings, combining for 13 strikeouts in that half, but in the sixth inning Kyle Schwarber had enough. He tied a solo home run to take out the innings: it was his sixth home run in his last 11 games and third in his last four. It was also Valdez’s first homer admitted to Minute Maid Park since July 3.
However, Wheeler had trouble, putting the riders on the corners with one out. Rob Thomson threw him so that southpaw Jose Alvarado can face Yordan Alvarez.
It didn’t matter: Alvarez hit a three-point home run on the eye of the batters in the center of the field 450 feet away to give the Astros a 3-1 lead. Sure Thomson could kick himself for a long time. Christian Vazquez added an RBI single a few hitters later.
This gave Valdez the victory. He only allowed that run with two strokes and two walks while he scored nine in his six innings of work. It was his third straight game with nine strikeouts and this postseason he pitched at an ERA of 1.44.

Hector Neris, Bryan Abreu and Ryan Pressly teamed up for three goalless innings to clinch the title. The Houston bullpen ended the postseason with an ERA of 0.83, the lowest of any team in a single postseason since the 1990 Cincinnati Reds had an ERA of 0.29.
Dusty Baker finally has a World Series title as manager. He first became a manager in 1993 and has three Manager of the Year awards to name him, but he lacked that coveted ring. On his third appearance in the Fall Classic (his first was in 2002), he finally got one.

2022 WORLD SERIES: ASTROS’S BRYAN ABREU ADMITS HE DID NOT UNDERSTAND GAME 4 WAS NOT EVEN HAPPENING
Jeremy Pena will likely be named World Series MVP in his rookie season in which he had to replace Carlos Correa. Pena would become the first player in MLB history to win both the ALCS and the World Series MVP in the same season – eight players simultaneously won the NLCS and World Series MVP.
Bryce Harper’s dominant performance may have almost been forgotten in the losing effort: she reached .349 this post-season with 13 more base hits, a shy one in equalizing the all-time record shared by Randy Arozarena (2020) and David Freese (2011).
In games 4 through 6, the Phillies only hit .101 (9 out of 89)

The Astros have become hated in recent years due to their 2017 World Series title likely tainted by their sign theft scheme. There are rumors that Jose Altuve also wore a thread during his ALCS home run in 2019, although this has never been proven.
This was the Astros’ fourth appearance at the World Series since 2017 – they had lost their two previous trips to the Washington Nationals in 2019 and the Atlanta Braves last year. What is karma? Was it simply not being able to get over the hump without cheating? Who knows.
But at this point, say what you want about the organization: anyone’s hatred now should be simply due to jealousy.
The thing is, they know what it takes to do it. They produce talent like it’s nobody’s business, and they’ll be a nightmare for everyone until, well, we just have to wait.
