Duane Dowell, CEO of the Newcastle Jockey Club, says the club expects a “bumper crowd” for The Hunter horse race in Newcastle today.
“We’ve had over three and a half thousand presales and we’re expecting a lot more, probably a crowd of around 5-6,000 today, so I’m looking forward to it,” he told Sky News Australia.
Mr. Dowell said the club has “invested heavily” in promoting The Hunter horse race in the local area, while pushing the idea that “it’s the Hunter people’s event and it’s their breed.”
“The response to all of our marketing strategies has really worked, so I’m looking forward to meeting a large audience,” he said.
