Elon Musk says his Twitter acquisition is “pending”.

Elon Musk said his $ 44 billion offer to buy Twitter was pending until he could get more details to confirm that spam and fake accounts account for less than 5% of the social network’s total users.

Mr. Musk, Tesla’s chief executive, made the announcement in a tweet before dawn on Friday. He connected to a Reuters article published May 2 in a Twitter regulatory filing that included an estimate of the number of spam and fake accounts.

Mr. Musk said ridding the platform of fake accounts, bots, and spam is one of his top priorities after the takeover.

Known for his freewheeling and sometimes impulsive business style, Musk’s comments raise questions about the future of a deal that would put one of the most influential social media platforms under the control of the richest person in the world.
