Inflation on the rise, but shouldn’t go too far above 6% –

The country’s main inflation rate for March was 5.9 percent from March last year, 0.2 percentage points higher than in February, Statistics SA announced Wednesday. The consumer price index accelerated by 1.0% more recently, from 0.6% in February, driven mainly by the sharp monthly rise in domestic fuel prices. Increased price pressure will raise the cost of living for families, but economic research group Oxford Economics Africa does not expect headline inflation to diverge by much more than 6%.
