The best plans for a full time go back to the office remain plagued by the rate of Covid-19 cases and a reluctant workforce to return to their travels, according to data released this week by the Partnership for New York Citya business advocacy group.
Only 8% of Manhattan employees return to the office five days a week, and 28% are still completely remote, according to the group’s new survey of more than 160 major employers in New York. On average weekdays, 38% of Manhattan employees are in the office, a figure that employers expect will rise to 49% by September. In groups January survey, many employers said they believe daily attendance would exceed 50% by April.
The most significant finding of the new survey, according to the partnership’s chair, Kathryn Wylde, is that 78% of workplaces have adopted a hybrid model, allowing for a mix of remote and in-person work. This is a jump from 6% before the pandemic.

And then there are those who try to make the office more attractive. Nearly two-thirds are offering incentives for workers to return to the office, including 43% offering free or discounted meals.
