UPDATE | Load shedding to stay in phase 4 until Friday

Eskom announced that the load shedding, which moved to Phase 4 on Tuesday morning after multiple generation units failed, will remain in effect until 05:00 on Friday.

The power company said the jump from phase 2 occurred at 7:20 am after the Majuba 5 unit and Tutuka 4 unit tripped.

CEO André de Ruyter will also brief the media at 10:00 on the status of the network.

Eskom initially began shedding load during Phase 2 overnight early last week, before further unit failures at various power plants led to full-time shedding until Friday morning. There was a slight respite until Sunday, when phase 2 was again required.
