Gretchen Ho sees ‘solitude, peace and slowing down of time’ in airplane rides

Traveling via airplane is more than a ride for former volleyball-player-turned-TV-host Gretchen Ho.
Ho enumerated the many benefits of time spent during an airplane ride in her Instagram post today, Aug. 1, where she shared a short video of an airplane ride and the Mediterranean Sea visible from the window.
“Airplane rides have always represented solitude, peace and the slowing down of time for me,” she said. “It’s the sound of silence inside an aircraft that’s the most comforting. For a brief moment, there is no work to talk about, no message to answer, and no task to finish.”

“There IS finally time to sleep, time to eat slowly, time to relax and time to write on a page in my diary,” she added.

Ho wished the rides were a little longer, but then realized that such rides are precious exactly because they are temporary.
“You gather the energy, the clear-headedness and the recollected mind for the next destination,” she explained. “It’s a blessing to be able to ride on planes. When I get down, there will be many things to do and to discover.” JB
