Alligator Found Riding in Michigan Car After High-Speed Chase

A sheriff’s office in western Michigan said they discovered an alligator in a car following a high-speed chase on the night of Saturday, June 11. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said the chase began at around 11 pm after a patrol sergeant on US-10 attempted to stop the vehicle, which was “traveling at a high rate of speed.” The driver, identified as a 40-year-old man from Oak Park, led deputies on a “brief pursuit” that ended when his vehicle became stuck between two trees, the sheriff’s office said. The driver, who already had several other warrants from another jurisdiction, was arrested and faces several charges, the sheriff’s office said. The gator, dubbed “Karen” in the sheriff’s office Facebook post about the incident, attempted to flee the scene but was taken into custody after a “short scuffle.” The sheriff’s office joked, “Karen is not facing any charges at this time. We believe she was an unwilling participant during the incident, nor do we believe she was ever in control of the vehicle.” Credit: Lake County Sheriff’s Office via Storyful
