Newcastle United fans aren’t the ‘slightest bit bothered’ about Saudi owners

Former football manager Harry Redknapp says Newcastle United fans aren’t “the slightest bit bothered” who is funding the club. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) spent £305 million to purchase an 80 per cent stake in Premier League football club Newcastle United. Mr Redknapp said the fans only care as long as the team buys better players and wins more games.“How many times have you seen it in this country with people buying sports franchises where you wonder where their money is coming from?”, he told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.
