Tamawashi remained alone at the top of the rankings despite losing his second defeat in the Fall of the Grand Sumo Tournament at the hands of fellow Wakamotoharu on Thursday.

Mongolian No. 3 maegashira kept a margin of a 10-2 win after his closest rivals came on Day 12, the No. 8 Hokutofuji and n. 10 Nishikifuji, were beaten by ozeki Takakeisho and No. 1 Tobizaru, respectively.
