As an athlete, you dream of doing this once — this guy’s done this on multiple occasions.”Incredibly, there have been just five spinning back elbow finishes in UFC history, two belonging to Ramos.Ramos previously knocked Aiemann Zahabi out at UFC 217 in 2017 with the finish.“You repeat, repeat, sometimes you connect, sometimes you don’t,” Ramos said of landing the stunning finish. “But you repeat the position 10,000 times, one day you’ll get it in the fight and today I got it one more time to show that it’s not lucky.”USA Today’s Nolan King wrote: ‘That was legit video game s**t. Ricardo Ramos spammed all of the crazy strikes until one landed.“But not to be outdone, Jeremiah Wells KOed Court McGee with a brilliant combination, sneaking through a huge left that saw McGee out on his feet.“I visualised this — I am gonna do what had not been done,” Wells said of the finish. “He’s not been stopped, or submitted. But I stopped him.”Dominick Cruz said the prelim card was “insane”.“Everyone got knocked out on the whole card almost,” he said.Cormier added: “It was crazy, the prelims were nuts, but the best fights are meant to be starting now. The energy in these arenas, these fans are so wanting to see live fights that fight one it’s out of control.”Fans were blown away by the wild start.UFC lightweight Mason Jones wrote: “What!!! A!!! Card!! Nothing but fireworks so far @ufc.” Singer/songwriter Robbie Glover tweeted: “Where did that come from, another crazy KO from nowhere, there’s something in the water tonight in Austin for sure!! That was crazy!! lol”.The Morning Kombat Podcast added: “That has to be some of the best prelims we’ve had in a long time.”Full UFC Austin cardMain cardCalvin Kattar vs. Josh EmmettKevin Holland vs. Tim MeansJoaquin Buckley vs. Albert DuraevDamir Ismagulov vs. Guram KutateladzeJulian Marquez vs. Gregory RodriguesAdrian Yanez vs. Tony Kelley Preliminary CardNatalia Silva defeated Jasmine Jasudavicius via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 30-27)Jeremiah Wells defeated Court McGee via KO (punch) – Round 1, 1:34Ricardo Ramos defeated Daniel Chavez via KO (spinning elbow) – Round 1, 1:12Maria Oliveira defeated Gloria de Paula via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)Cody Stamann defeated Eddie Wineland via TKO (punches) – Round 1, 0:59Phil Hawes defeated Deron Winn via TKO (elbows) – Round 2, 4:25Roman Dolidze defeated Kyle Daukaus via KO (knee, punches) – Round 1, 1:13Originally published as ‘This is crazy’: UFC Austin stunned by wild KO carnage
