Game over: EA and FIFA separate after a ten-year partnership

Electronic Arts is separating itself from the global governing body of football FIFA after a nearly 30-year partnership and pulling the plug on one of the most successful video game franchises in the world that has grossed billions of dollars in sales.

EA made a “significant offer” to FIFA for an eight-year exclusivity period on all FIFA gaming and eSports rights, but the football entity was unwilling to block all of its gaming and e-soccer rights with a single publisher, sources familiar with the matter said Tuesday.
