Rondini and Carpe compete for first place in the Central League

In a match worthy of a clash between the Central League top two teams, Tokyo Yakult Swallows in first place kept Hiroshima Carp at bay Sunday in a 5-5 12 innings draw.

Closer Yakult Scott McGough came out of a tricky spot after a stroke of luck put two out with one out in the 12th inning. Posting his second out with a strikeout, McGough landed a fly to finish him off after four hours and 44 minutes at Mazda Stadium.
