Arizona Motorist Rescued From Vehicle Trapped in Floodwaters

Police rescued a motorist after her vehicle became trapped in gushing floodwaters in Apache Junction, Arizona, on July 28. Footage released by Apache Junction police department shows officers pulling a woman out of the partially submerged vehicle through a broken window. The motorist can be heard asking the officers to rescue her dog. Although the driver was rescued, police said they were “deeply saddened” not to have retrieved the driver’s dog from the car. “At last check, family and friends were searching for this beloved pet,” the department said on Facebook. The Apache Junction police department said they responded to more than 24 different calls for “service related to flooding” on Thursday and, as monsoon rains continued, warned residents not to drive on flooded roads.
