A Florida judge has announced that he will block the election map drawn by Gov. Ron DeSantis targeting African Americans.
A congressional map approved by the Republican governor of Florida. Ron DeSantis and drawn by his staff is unconstitutional because it destroys a district where black voters can choose their representatives, a state judge said Wednesday.
Leon County Circuit Judge Layne Smith said Thursday or Friday he will issue a formal order to prevent the maps from going into effect in the November election. He made it clear that he would speak out in favor of voting rights groups that challenged the maps.
The DeSantis map will not survive. He is openly racist and targets African Americans. The map eliminated two House districts where black voters are the majority in a clear attempt to weaken and dilute the voices of African American voters in the state.
The map was obviously racist and will now be replaced.
DeSantis is a mini-Trump in that everything he touches falls apart, and if he’s next in line for the Republican presidential nomination, the American people can expect more.
