Republicans get busted by their own staff speaking to the 1/6 committee

Representative Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) said Committee 1/6 is receiving information from Republican staff reporting to the committee.

Video from Representative Lofgren:

Lofgren told CNN’s Jim Acosta: “We have to go all the way to protect our constitution and our system of government. The ones who refuse to tell the truth they’re trying to hide, you know, gosh, that’s not quite what they’re supposed to do. So we will pursue every possible option to get to the truth, but as this document shows, there are different ways to get information whenever there is a phone call, there are people on that phone call who are listening and many of them have reported us. “

The 1/6 Committee is receiving information from Republican House staff members who listened to the phone calls their leaders were taking part in during the period before and after the 1/6 attack.

That means the Committee probably knows a lot more than Republicans think they know, which helps explain why Kevin McCarthy thought he could lie about just about anything and not get caught.

Additionally, the staff are likely to be a valuable source of information for the Committee and could be the source for McCarthy’s calls that are disclosed to the public.

Republican staff were so upset by the coup that some of them went to the committee and reported what they heard.

Representative Lofgren’s point was that the Committee doesn’t need members of Congress to testify. They are getting the information in many other ways.
