The pickup truck crashes into the Long Island teenager’s bedroom, missing him by inches

WESTBURY, NY– A teenager and his family are grateful to be alive after a pickup truck crashes into them long island house in the middle of the night.

The truck crashed into the Westbury house around 1am Thursday night and ended up in the backyard after crashing into the 13-year-old’s bedroom.

“Confused and worried. I have school, but I can’t go,” Jayden Tirnh told CBS2’s Elijah Westbrook.

Despite the damage Nassau County Police he said no one was hurt. The truck missed Jayden by inches.

“I was asleep and then I woke up by myself. Nobody woke me up and the wall is broken. Everyone seemed to be walking around, talking and I was really confused. I got up … I saw the guy who hit our house and he he was like, ‘Sorry, I don’t know you guys,’ and then he walked away, ”Jayden said.

“I was scared. I was holding him, I was crying,” said Jayden’s mother, Thu Than. “I feel his whole body, see if it’s all right. Because the whole wardrobe has collapsed on the bed.”

Based on the tire tracks left at the scene, it appears the truck driver made his way from Carmen Avenue, then crashed into the house before stopping in the back yard.

“One foot closer and my son was gone,” Than said. “I feel much better now. I see everything. My son, he has nothing wrong with him.”

Police said they arrested the driver a couple of hours after the incident, not far from the house, which is unlivable according to the Nassau County Code Enforcement Bureau.

The family said they will be staying with another family nearby. But that’s the least of their worries: they’re just grateful that they’re okay.

“It could have been a lot worse,” Jayden said. “I’m glad I didn’t do it last night.”
